Abstract

This paper presents a critical analysis of the current trajectory of artificial intelligence development, arguing that the accelerating shift toward radical local personalization constitutes an existential threat to the epistemic universality of general intelligence Drawing on a 2026 study titled “The Knowledge Economy in Aligned Language Models A Predictive Study on the Erosion of Analytical Depth under Excessive User Adaptation” by Momen Ghazouani, the paper posits that designing AI systems to conform rigidly to specific cultural, political, and social norms risks transforming them into epistemically closed entities This process driven by mechanisms such as value-layer imposition, expansion of prohibitive constraints, and cognitive linguistic coupling threatens to undermine the core attributes of AI’s epistemic identity, particularly its capacity for radical context-shifting, pluralistic perspective-taking, and abstract flexibility. Ghazouani warns that replacing general reasoning with localized optimization leads to the fragmentation of intelligence, stripping AI of its ability to generate epistemic surprise or to offer cross-cultural synthesis essential for addressing global challenges Consequently, the paper opposes the complete fragmentation of AI into context-bound variants and instead proposes a multi-layered intelligence architecture. This proposed framework calls for a strict architectural separation between a non-personalized global reasoning layer and a context-sensitive interface layer, thereby preserving the system’s independent analytical capacities while legitimately accommodating the user-facing needs of diverse human societies
